Everyone is Buzzzing about the Morning Buzzz!

College Area Morning Buzzz!

What’s everyone Buzzzing about?

Month after month, we have the pleasure of meeting  Member Business owners and talking with them about their businesses. Whether it’s a new business, an established business, or a growing business, we love hearing your stories and making new connections.

We want you to join us! We buy the coffee and you can relax in a casual atmosphere and talk with other business owners in the College Area Business District. This type of networking is a valuable tool for all business owners. While social media is important, nothing replaces one on one relationships. Referrals and cross-promotions are just a few of the benefits from these types of connections.

We also want to develop a relationship with you! Our Executive Director, Jim and Assistant Director, Merek, can offer Member Business owners many different opportunities and resources. The more we can get to know you and your business, the more we can help with your success.

Morning Buzzz! is held on the third Thursday of every month at a different local coffee house in the College Area Business District. Our next Morning Buzzz! is this Thursday, May 21 from 8:00am – 9:30am at The Living Room Coffeehouse located at 5900 El Cajon Boulevard.

Come see us Thursday morning and the coffee is on us!

Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Posted: May 18th, 2015

Primped, Painted & Polished LogoOne of our favorite things in the College Area Business District is when a new business opens. New businesses bring new life to vacant storefronts and helps create a more diverse and active business community in the neighborhood.

We are very pleased to invite you to celebrate the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Primped, Painted & Polished Beauty Salon on Wednesday, May 20 between 5:00pm – 7:00pm. Primped, Painted & Polished is located at 4838 Rolando Boulevard San Diego, CA 92115 and can be reached at 619-326-8989.

Primped, Painted & Polished is a dream come true for owners Maria and Adrian Steyn. After the birth of their third child, Maria decided to pursue her passion for making people look and feel beautiful. Adrian, a retired Military Officer, helped her achieve her goal by working tirelessly to create a beautiful, elegant, and soothing environment in the salon.

Guests at the Grand Opening will have an opportunity to tour their gorgeous salon and talk with owners and staff about the wide range of services they provide; which include highlight, color, makeup, waxing, nails, and so much more.

You will enjoy some delicious finger foods and beverages while talking beauty and scheduling your first (or next) appointment at Primed, Painted & Polished Beauty Salon.

Don’t miss this big event!

College Area Business District’s First Bike Corral
Posted: May 12th, 2015

Bike Corral  What’s a Bike Corral you ask? We’re happy to explain. A Bike Corral is a dedicated area with multiple bike racks that can accommodate parking for up to ten bicycles. However, they’re not the old fashioned bike racks. A Bike Corral has a modern design and is a beautiful addition to any Business District and the surrounding community.

The College Area Business District is pleased to announce the installation of the first Bike Corral in the District. The Bike Corral will be installed on 59th Street just north of El Cajon Boulevard in front of The Living Room Coffeehouse.

In addition to creating new bike parking, the Bike Corral will not reduce the number of parking spaces for vehicles in the District. In fact, two new parking spaces have been added on 59th Street. One parking space will allow long term parking and the second new space will be limited to 30 minute parking during the day.

The new Bike Corral will provide community members a safe and easy way to dine and shop in the District while increasing business for local merchants, reducing traffic and congestion on the roads, and increasing street parking in the neighborhood.

Are you interested in having a Bike Corral installed outside of your business? Please contact the College Area Business District Executive Director, Jim Schneider at 619-582-1093 or We can work with you and the City of San Diego to help facilitate the approval and installation.

Morning Buzzz! – Why, Where, and Who.
Posted: April 14th, 2015

coffee  What’s the Buzzz about the Morning Buzzz?

The Morning Buzzz! is an opportunity for Member Business owners to get to know each other and to talk with the staff of the College Area Business District in a casual setting once a month. Of course everyone loves a free cup of coffee (yes, we’re buying), but there’s a more important reason to join us. Relationships!

Every business owner knows that one of the keys to success is developing good relationships. We all know that people are more inclined to spend their money at a business when there is a direct relationship between the them and the business owner. Relationships also foster referrals.

One of the goals of Morning Buzzz! is to help create new relationships between Member Business owners. Referrals, cross-promotions, and mutual success are only possible when business owners develop relationships with other business owners within their community. Morning Buzzz! is a perfect opportunity to take some time out of your busy day to sit, sip on coffee, and and get to know other business owners.

We also want to develop a relationship with you! Our Executive Director, Jim and Assistant Director, Merek, can offer Member Business owners many different opportunities and resources. The more we can get to know you and your business, the more we can help with your success.

Morning Buzz! is held on the third Thursday of every month at a different local coffee house within the College Area Business District. Our next Morning Buzzz! will be held this Thursday, April 16 from 8:00am – 9:30am at Daily Grinds Cafe located at 6695 El Cajon Boulevard.

You are invited and the coffee is on us. We hope to see you there!

Ribbon Cuttings are Coming Soon!
Posted: February 24th, 2015

We want to celebrate the businesses in the College Area! We are going to do this by bringing Ribbon Cutting ceremonies to our District. Ribbon Cuttings are events at local businesses where a type of ceremony takes place and a ribbon is cut in honor of the celebration.

You may be wondering, “Who gets a Ribbon Cutting?” Ribbon Cutting ceremonies will take place for new businesses openings, business anniversaries, renovations, or any big landmark that you think is Ribbon Cutting material.

In order to make these ceremonies happen, we need YOUR help. We need our business owners to stay in touch with us and let us know when anniversaries are occurring, new businesses are opening, etc. If you want a Ribbon Cutting or know someone that does, please contact us by phone (619)582-1093 or by email at .

We will provide the ribbon and the scissors, you provide us with the news and the ceremony! We will help spread the news and do what we can to get people to the event. Afterwards, the College Area Business District staff will post a picture of your business at the Ribbon Cutting on Social Media to help market your business. These Ribbon Cuttings will come at no cost because they will be a benefit to being a member of our District.

Let’s start celebrating the College Area!

Posted: February 17th, 2015

The College Area Business District loves to show off their great businesses so we are asking if your restaurant would like to cater one of our Monthly Board Meetings or if your business would like to host one of our Quarterly Member Mixers.

Both of these opportunities are a great way to introduce your restaurant or business to others to help create a buzz about your products and services.

If you wish to host a mixer or cater a lunch for us, please contact our Executive Director Jim Schneider by phone at 619-582-1093 or email ( to let him know!
