College Area Business District is bringing some culture to the College Area by hosting a new special event called Art Street.
What is Art Street?
Art Street is the newest arts event to hit San Diego and is hosted by the College Area Business District. Scheduled for Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 10:00am – 7:00pm, Art Street will boast 50 artist booths filled with 2 dimensional art (paintings, sketches etc.) and 3 dimensional arts (Sculpting, pottery, etc.). Also included will be an interactive art opportunity for those who wish to get in touch with their internal artist.
There will be a stage in the parking lot of Social Tap (4800 Art Street) brimming with live performances of music, comedy, spoken word, dance and perhaps an open mic section. Social Tap will be the official Food & Beer Garden and lead sponsor for the event. They are also letting us take over the parking lot for the day to set up the stage and the interactive arts area, so let’s all take a moment to say, “Thank You Social Tap!”!
Art Street will have a broad range of arts to view and purchase. We are currently seeking artists who are willing to show & sell their works to the public. An application must be completed submitted with payment in full. All booth spaces are 10 feet x 10 feet and the cost for the day is only $100 each booth space. For more detailed information, please review the artist/ vendor application and contact us with any questions that may not have been answered by the application itself.

Live performance arts are generally not fully represented in similar events. This is our chance to highlight some of those artists by offering them a venue to show off their talents. Art Street is not just about musical performance, but also dance, comedy (yes, comedy is an art form), spoken word and other types of live performance arts that get overshadowed by music. Don’t get us wrong, there WILL be music, because, hey, who doesn’t enjoy good music?
If you know of or are a part of an entertaining organization and would like to perform for the visitors to Art Street, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with a link to a recent performance or a sample of your work. Some invitations have been sent out and we will be rather selective about the live performances chosen for this for this event, but please let us know if you think you have what it takes to be a part of the inaugural Art Street event!
There will be many opportunities for volunteers to help ensure the success of the event. This will be a great opportunity to have some of the residents, businesses, faculty, staff and students of the university come together to help create an Art event that will satisfy the desire for more culture within the College Area. If you are interested in being involved in the creation of the event, complete the sign up form (coming here soon).
