Fred Benedetti

Born Fred Masataka Benedetti in Sasebo, Japan, Fred Benedetti began playing the guitar at age nine.
In 1986, he was one of twelve guitarists chosen worldwide to perform in the Master Class of Andrés Segovia at USC, where Guitarra Magazine wrote, “Fred Benedetti amazed the audience with his performance of the Bach Chaconne.”
Benedetti has performed locally with the San Diego Symphony, the San Diego Opera, the Starlight Opera, the American Ballet Company, the Old Globe Theatre, and with Luciano Pavarotti. As of 2009, he is a full-time professor of music at Grossmont College, where he is chair of guitar studies and is head of the guitar faculty at San Diego State University with George Svoboda, Robert Wetzel, and Celin Romero.
In addition, he has recorded on the SBE label and Domo Records with several ensembles: Camarada (chamber ensemble), Keltik Kharma (a Celtic band), the Odeum Guitar Duo, and the Benedetti/Svoboda Guitar Duo. His album The Guitar Ensemble II includes performances of compositions by Beethoven, Vivaldi, Strauss, and Mozart.
He has performed for dignitaries such as the King & Queen of Malaysia, Mikhail Gorbachev, and President Jimmy Carter.
We are happy to have Benedetti back for the evening, as his performance was breathtaking at this year’s inaugural year of ART Street (all those in attendance know exactly what we are talking about). For all those who have yet to listen to his talents, you are in for a treat!

WWF-logo-horizontal

Gather up your saddles for another FUN fair photoshoot!

“Where the West is Fun” is the theme for the 2017 San Diego County Fair. The good old days of the
Wild West and all of its fanfare will be brought to life at the Fair next summer, giving fairgoers the chance to become part of the Old West with all the fun only the San Diego County Fair can provide.

We will be teaming up with the San Diego County Fair for another themed banner photo-shoot. We look forward to having last year’s participants, and greenhorns alike, join us in representing our neighborhood by partaking in this year’s shoot.

These banners will be displayed throughout the College Area on El Cajon Boulevard from June 2017 through July 2017. Early in August, you will have the opportunity to pick up the banner with your photo to take home as your own memorabilia for free!

It is welcomed to wear your best western attire, having fun with the cowboy/cowgirl theme. While costumes are encouraged, they are not mandatory.  If you choose not to wear a costume, please wear a solid color shirt with no logos/graphics  and no bare shoulders. Please arrive promptly as the photographer will only be here for an allotted amount of time. Once your portrait is taken, you will be free to enjoy the rest of your Saturday!

When: Saturday, March 4, 2017

Where: Campus Plaza Shopping Center (6165 El Cajon Boulevard Suite H)
